It’s not just about getting them to do a GDN which is an AQF Level 8 program (Bachelor of Nursing in Australia is only a Level 7) but ensuring a consistent outcome for candidates after they complete the program by focusing on:
An Australian Nursing registration is immensely portable as a qualification and opens up the whole world for a nurse to look at building a truly global career. An Australian registration in nursing provides the candidate a very practical pathway towards PR in Australia given that nursing is very high on the Skilled Occupation list which is also highlighted by the fact that the Ministry of Labour, Government of Australia has estimated that between 2018 and 2023 Australia will need an additional 52,000 registered nurses to be able to fulfill current and future vacancies. This is in addition to the 69,000 positions in Aged and Disability care. An Australian Registration opens up opportunities for Registration and work in New Zealand, Singapore, UK, Canada, and USA & South Africa.
Apart from providing GNM nurses eligibility to apply for a decision letter the GDN program has
significant up skilling attributes some of which are highlighted below.
Advanced nursing practice is directed towards a high degree of expertise as a nurse with greater levels of responsibilities,
leadership in leading and providing responsive nursing care for individuals and families in general and specialized care,
and increased understanding of the value of research and evidence-based practice.
Further, the course is guided by the belief that postgraduate education builds upon undergraduate
education and previous clinical experience. Therefore the course provides an environment conducive
to critical inquiry, testing of ideas and generation and expansion of knowledge. This includes the
development of leadership capability and increased awareness of research skills.
